Description
This scene is an idealised evocation of me in my front garden … here, from my eerie … my safe haven … vantage point … garden oasis … was the place I spent simply hours, days, months, whilst on furlough …working on new linocut designs based on the main source of inspiration: ‘my garden’.
Surrounded by bay and olive trees, prolific euphorbias (with their acid lime bracts) and a mass of lavender … I was both elevated and screened from the street; passers-by, taking their one hour of daily exercise, would not notice me.
…at various times of the day rooks would swarm overhead, mild gang warfare, creating murmurations with choreographic precision …. high summer skies saw groups of swifts circling wildly… bees foraged amongst the lavender; the sound of sheep and lambs wafted across from the hills opposite … a veritable cacophony of nature … cawing, tweeting, bleating, humming “I was not alone”.
